Grinnell Griffons hosts Cedar Rapids for 1st Test Match of Fall 08
The Cedar Rapids Mens Rugby Club will finally kick off their fall season this Saturday. The Headhunters who finished last years season #2 in Iowa and #4 in the entire Midwest will travel to Grinnel to have a preseason match with the Grinnell Griffens. Grinnell traditionally is a struggling team, but as we seen in the spring Grinnell is growing and doesn't look to be a "cake walk" like in years past. CedarRapidsRugby.com had a chance to sit and speak with this years captains, Josh Eggers and Lee Boleyn about the upcoming match.
When asked how is the team looking this year Boleyn had this to say, "I think the team so far is looking pretty good but we certainly have our fair share of injuries. We also haven't been getting as many to practice as I would like to see, I mean I know we worked pretty hard to get where we got last year but this is a new year right now is the time to be getting things worked out". Josh Eggers agreed with what Lee said completely.
Later Eggers was asked what he thought about the Grinnell test match this weekend and he replied with the following. " I know a bunch of the guys who have played with Grinnell for a while now and they are a pretty good group of guys. This will be a competitive match but also a chance for Grinnell as well as Cedar Rapids to try some stuff and work out the details getting ready for League play".
Hawkeye football started last weekend and Cedar Rapids Rugby starts this weekend, what more could a person growing up in Eastern Iowa ask for??

Congratulations to Jeremy and Danielle Daughetee
Here is a picture of Elizabeth Daughetee who was born 7/15 at 4:10pm. That's all the information we got from the dad via a text message but both mom and baby deerblood are doing fine.

2008 Cedar Rapids Rugby Golf Tournament
It is time again to get signed up for the 3rd Annual Cedar Rapids Rugby Golf Tournament. We will again host it this year at St. Andrews in Cedar Rapids. 4-person best shot with an entry fee of $55 per player, price includes 18 holes of golf and cart. Prizes and meal after tournament at Just Jules Pub located on Center Point Rd - the official home of the Cedar Rapids Rugby Team.
